Semaglutide options under physician supervision
Wegovy Weight Loss Program: Injections, Tablets and Higher Dose
Wegovy now includes weekly injection, daily tablet and eligible higher-dose pathways, giving patients more semaglutide choices—but not every form or dose is appropriate for every patient.
Wegovy options
| Option | Maintenance approach | Patient consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Standard injection | Usually 2.4 mg weekly after escalation; 1.7 mg may be used in specified circumstances | Weekly convenience and established outcomes data |
| Higher-dose injection | 7.2 mg weekly for eligible adults under current label | Consider only after evaluating response and tolerability |
| Wegovy tablet | 25 mg daily after 1.5, 4 and 9 mg escalation | Oral preference and ability to take a daily medicine |
Wegovy is used with reduced-calorie nutrition and increased physical activity. It also has a cardiovascular risk-reduction indication for certain adults with established cardiovascular disease and overweight or obesity.
