W8MD Weight Loss, Sleep & MedSpa Locations and Services
W8MD provides integrated medical weight loss, prescription treatment, sleep medicine, home sleep studies, IV/IM nutrition and medical aesthetic services at its active Brooklyn and Northeast Philadelphia offices.
Weight, sleep, metabolism and appearance-related concerns often overlap. Untreated sleep apnea may worsen fatigue and cardiometabolic risk. Rapid weight loss can affect muscle mass, nutrition and skin. W8MD’s integrated model allows patients to discuss these connected issues with experienced medical clinicians rather than purchasing isolated treatments without a broader plan.
Physician-supervised medical weight loss
W8MD clinicians review weight history, appetite, current medicines, blood pressure, previous treatment, food preferences, sleep symptoms, pregnancy considerations, insurance and budget before recommending care. The program may include:
- Individual medical evaluation and realistic goal setting
- Reduced-calorie, lower-carbohydrate, low-glycemic or Mediterranean-style nutrition
- Protein, fiber and hydration planning to support health during weight loss
- Resistance and aerobic activity recommendations based on ability
- Traditional prescription pills when medically appropriate
- GLP-1 or dual GIP/GLP-1 treatment when eligible
- Screening for prediabetes, PCOS, fatty-liver risk and other metabolic concerns
- Sleep-apnea screening and home sleep testing when indicated
- Side-effect follow-up, plateau management and long-term maintenance
Prescription weight-loss options
Traditional oral medicines
Selected patients may be evaluated for phentermine, phentermine/topiramate, Qsymia, Contrave, orlistat or another appropriate medicine. Oral options can be more affordable than branded incretin therapies but still require contraindication and interaction review.
Semaglutide and Wegovy
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 medicine. Wegovy is its weight-management brand and is available in injectable and oral forms. Ozempic is a diabetes brand, not the weight-management brand.
Tirzepatide and Zepbound
Tirzepatide activates GIP and GLP-1 receptors. Zepbound is approved for chronic weight management and for moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity. Mounjaro is a diabetes brand.
New oral GLP-1 options
Eligible adults may discuss Wegovy tablets or Foundayo (orforglipron). A tablet may be convenient, but product-specific risks, administration, availability and coverage still matter.

Coverage support
Prior authorizationwhen coverage exists and the patient meets plan criteriaThe insurer determines approval.
Evaluation required. Eligibility, exact product, dose, pharmacy, laboratory work, shipping, availability, insurance and total cost vary. Starting prices can increase during dose escalation. Visit coverage does not guarantee medication coverage.
Sleep medicine and home sleep studies
W8MD evaluates symptoms such as loud snoring, witnessed breathing pauses, morning headaches, insomnia and excessive daytime sleepiness. Depending on the clinical situation, care may include sleep consultation, a home sleep study, laboratory testing referral or PAP-treatment guidance.
Weight loss may improve obesity-related obstructive sleep apnea, but patients should not discontinue CPAP, BiPAP or APAP without appropriate reassessment. Learn more about W8MD sleep-medicine services, sleep consultations and testing, or the obstructive sleep apnea encyclopedia article.
IV and IM nutrition services
W8MD may offer vitamin B12, selected intramuscular injections or IV nutrition when clinically appropriate. These services should be based on medical history, symptoms, diet, laboratory findings when indicated and potential interactions. IV therapy is not a substitute for a balanced diet and should not be marketed as a cure or guaranteed “detox.”
Medical aesthetic and MedSpa services
W8MD’s medical-aesthetic offerings may include wrinkle-relaxing injections, dermal fillers, microneedling, skin rejuvenation, facials, radiofrequency skin tightening and body-contouring consultations. Availability varies by office and appointment date. Aesthetic procedures require evaluation, informed consent and realistic expectations and are generally not covered by medical insurance.
Insurance and prior authorization
W8MD accepts most major insurance plans for qualifying medical visits, subject to network status and plan benefits. This does not mean every service, medication, nutritional product or aesthetic procedure is covered. Employer exclusions, deductibles, formularies and prior-authorization requirements differ.
When a medication benefit exists and the patient meets the insurer’s criteria, W8MD can submit clinical documentation and a prior-authorization request. Approval is never guaranteed. Patients should verify the visit benefit and pharmacy benefit separately.

Frequently asked questions
How quickly should I lose weight?
The safest rate depends on starting health, treatment and medical supervision. Rapid loss is not automatically better and may increase the risk of muscle loss, gallstones, dehydration or nutritional deficiencies. W8MD sets individualized targets rather than guaranteeing a fixed weekly result.
Can one food or drink burn belly fat?
No. Lemon water, vinegar and so-called fat-burning foods do not selectively remove abdominal fat. Overall calorie balance, protein, activity, sleep and appropriate medical treatment determine fat loss.
Why does weight loss slow down?
As weight decreases, energy needs change and biological hunger may increase. Medication tolerance, sleep, inconsistent intake, reduced activity or muscle loss may also contribute. A plateau is a reason to reassess the plan, not automatically increase medication.
Does W8MD prescribe every patient a GLP-1 drug?
No. A consultation does not guarantee a prescription. The clinician may recommend nutrition-only care, a traditional medication, a GLP-1 pathway, sleep evaluation or another option based on eligibility and safety.
Does W8MD accept insurance?
W8MD accepts most major plans for qualifying visits, subject to participation, deductibles and benefits. Medication and aesthetic coverage are separate questions.
Can W8MD obtain prior authorization?
When coverage exists and the patient meets plan criteria, W8MD can submit supporting documentation. The insurance plan makes the final decision.
Does weight loss cure sleep apnea?
It may improve obesity-related sleep apnea but does not guarantee resolution. Patients need clinician-guided testing before changing prescribed PAP therapy.
Are aesthetic services covered by insurance?
Cosmetic treatments are generally self-pay. Ask the office for availability, candidacy and current pricing.
